April 29, 2008

Well, another day down. I still can hardly believe that Joe will be turning one in less than a week. Then we have my brother comming for a visit on the 16th and I'm already excited about that. Out of all of my siblings, my brother Josh and I were always the ones who never really seemed to fit in with the others. That kind of makes you close. That's also why it kind of stinks that he's living clear in Salt Lake City instead of out here in Iowa. I kind of miss having him close, but at least I have Mom and Dad. I don't know what I'm going to do when they pass though. Yes, I'll still have Chris and the family that we've made together, but sometimes you just need your original family too.

Well, so far so good today. We had a fun little field trip to the store with Grandma and grandpa and Joe's having fun playing with Grandpa but he might have to go take a nap here in a bit. We'll see how that goes. ;-) At least it's supposed to be in the 70's here by Wednesday so maybe we'll go for a walk then.

Whew! All better now! I'm just so glad that my little boy is back to his old self again. For some reason, everything you know seems to fly right out the window when it's your child that's sick. I just felt so helpless and there is no worse feeling in the world.

Well, I think Joe is doing better. He's eaten some baby food and his temp has gone back down. I'm just hoping that it stays there. The doctor said that it's probably some kind of viral thing that's maybe going around. I think we'll be ok though. She said just to watch him and make sure that he drinks plenty of fluids. So we got him some pedialyte and some baby ibuprofen to help in case the temp goes back up. Here's hoping it doesn't. ;-)

Sick Baby. :-(

It's been a LONG 24 hours or so. Yesterday afternoon, Joe came down with a high fever and it came and went. Last night it spiked and stayed high for most of the night. High temp was somewhere between 101.7 and 104. We called the clinic's on-call doctor and he said that we should just do our best to keep him cool and see how he was in the morning. Well, that seemed to work as he looked and acted a lot better this morning. His temp went down to 96.3 and he seemed to actually eat something instead of just drinking all the water in his sippy cup. Well, that didn't last for more than an hour. At about 8:15, he threw all of it back up and it looked like the baby formula version of poltergeist in our living room. Formula everywhere, on him, me, the boppy pillow and couch, and all over his little face. Poor kid. He's acting ok now, but I'm still worried about him. Tired and worried... nice combo huh?

Not much going on today. Took the cat in for his "lion cut" and rabies shot, so he'll be pretty mad at mama for a few days and will probably spenad a lot of his time hiding and glaring at me. *LOL* Poor kitty. :-) Joe is having a good say, he even got taken out to breakfast by Grandpa and Grandma so he's pretty tired now, but I think he's having a good day anyway. :-)

April 17, 2008

Not much to report yet today. I have to type really slow and with one hand because Joe hears the keys and, being the son of an IT man, he loves computers and always wants to pound on the keyboard. He only likes the keyboards that are actually connected though.. not the one we gave him to play with. Go figure! :-)

Here we go!

Well, here goes my first attempt at blogging! Not much going on right now to report, but we are at 21 days and counting till we celebrate our son's first birthday. Yikes! ;-) Still kind of getting used to being parents sometimes and here, he's already turning one!
